Intel to cut 529 jobs in Oregon as part of broader layoff plan Investing.com-- Intel Corporation (NASDAQ:INTC) said on Tuesday it plans to eliminate 529 jobs at its Oregon facilities, with layoffs beginning around July 15. The layoffs will affect employees at Intel’s facilities in Aloha and Hillsboro, the company said in a Worker Adjustment Retraining and Notification filing on Monday. The cuts are part of a broader global restructuring under new CEO Lip‑Bu Tan. The company has not disclosed the total number of layoffs, but a Bloomberg report stated that the cuts could affect over 20% of the workforce. Intel shares gained over 7% on Tuesday, supported by investor optimism around cost-cutting measures. "As we announced earlier this year, we are taking steps to become a leaner, faster, and more efficient company," an Intel spokesperson said Tuesday. "Removing organizational complexity and empowering our engineers will enable us to better serve the needs of our customers and strengthen our execution," the company said.
