Bursary for UK professionals to attend European Aniridia Conference 2026 Aniridia Network is offering to fund UK professionals to take part in this year's European Aniridia Conference (EAC), 17-19 April in Sofia, Bulgaria. EAC enables the sharing of scientific knowledge about the rare genetic eye condition aniridia. Its goal is to prevent sight loss and deal with aniridia’s effects. It brings together patients and the world’s top experts to upskill the clinical, research and aniridic communities.

Doctors and scientists working on #PAX6 & aniridia: don't miss out on attending the European Aniridia Conference in April 2026. #EuroAniridiaConf

This snail may hold a secret to human eye regeneration Golden apple snails can regrow full, functional eyes. Studying their genes may reveal how to repair human eye injuries.

“Understanding how the snails re-create or repair their eyes might lead to therapies to heal people’s eye injuries or reverse diseases such as macular degeneration.”

Well done Dr Pippa Harding, my PhD student @ucleye.bsky.social who grew eye cups from a patient with a missense variant in the #PAX6 paired domain causing #microphthalmia & a typical #aniridia patient. SOX2 and Notch pathways were dysregulated. Disease insights: www.sciencedirect.com/science/arti...
