“Another late night, huh, Lexi?” Sophia asked, glancing down at me as she tossed the newspaper on top of my displaced books. It lay open to some blurry greenish aerial pictures.
I nodded. “Yeah, playing Eco-Sim. I found a new type of alien creature. It was photosynthetic, so I moved it to a sunny spot, and it perked right up.” I swirled another morsel in the golden puddle, brightening as I relived my virtual adventure. “Then it caught a virus, but I didn’t notice since it didn’t look sick. It just acted weird…” I trailed off.
“Uh-huh,” Sophia said, as her gaze drifted to the images in the paper, brows furrowed. I sighed, since apparently, I couldn’t even compete with a newspaper. Who even reads those?
