Before daybreak early morning of February 2nd, still hidden in the shadows i caught this “tiny tot” gently swaying from the chilling breeze, light still about to pour in from the sunrise and i turned off my flashes and tried to capture its beauty with the uses of natural light instead.. practicing manually how to work on my balance for a more adaptable DoF (depth of field) for these delicate blossoms.

As daybreak comes these plum blossoms seemed to have come alive too, as though the little buds get their energy from Mr. Sun and felt like they all started popping out and opened their petals to my sheer delight!

Yes, i too am excited for their cherry blossoms here that everyone seem to be excited about come spring (late March to early April) .. BUT big but is the hopeless romantic in me much prefer Plum blossoms. i can’t explain it well yet admitting here plum blossoms have this historical somewhat poignant appeal to me than the cherries as probably influenced by the many ancient arts/paintings/and woodblock prints.. and likewise due to my love of Japanese poetry ー literary poems from the Masters like Basho; Kobayashi Issa; and the likes, dating back hundred of years agoー are somehow filled with PLUM blossoms as their main subject in their classic written works..
