Pink Shirt Day today in Canada. 👚
Originally created to stand up against bullying, Pink Shirt Day makes me think of something bigger.
Not just “don’t be a bully.”
But raise the bar.
In healthcare, schools, and leadership spaces, my focus is #Civility and #PsychSafety.

Grateful to work with a multinational team of GYN surgeons & trainees studying how psychological safety intersects with surgical complications. 🌍🩺 @andreasobermair.bsky.social
3 continents. Many time zones. One goal: safer care.
Follow along, more to come!
#PsychSafety #GynSurgery
Hierarchy matters in surgery.
But using a steep hierarchy ALL the time makes us less safe.
I hear this pushback often:
“Hierarchy is necessary for surgical safety.”
Yes. AND safety usually depends on the opposite:
– Easy speaking up
– Anyone can question or clarify
– #Psychsafety by default
Have you experienced an "identity quake"? How did you navigate it?
Let's build a more resilient and supportive healthcare community together.

Some takeaways from #ICRE2025
💡 Balancing #psychsafety with productive struggle is an ongoing art in learning.
🎭 #Improv helps us embody that balance through vulnerability, curiosity, and play.
💙Trust and connection aren’t extras but essential.
Time well spent! @icreconf.bsky.social

Cartoon-style businesswoman with cracked armor and speech bubble saying “I feel overwhelmed.” Text above reads “LEADING WITH VULNERABILITY.” Subtitle says “What it means—and what it doesn’t.”
Vulnerability in action: “I feel overwhelmed.” “I don’t have all the answers.” “I made a mistake—and here’s what I learned.” These aren’t signs of weakness. They’re invitations to connect.
What does vulnerability look like in your team?
#PsychSafety #RealTalkLeadership #InclusiveCulture
Leader speaking with a calm expression. Speech bubble says “I don’t have all the answers, but I’m here to listen.” Text above reads “Vulnerability is… Admitting uncertainty while staying grounded.”
Vulnerability is… admitting uncertainty while staying grounded. “I don’t have all the answers, but I’m here to listen.” That’s leadership.
When have you see your leadership be vulnerable?

We can build an OR culture that protects sterility, civility and fairness. We must.

A break in civility contaminates the OR just as much as a break in sterility.
Both put patients at risk.
