That's one of the most successful methods I've designed to build a Hügelkultur raised bed. While hügelkultur exists, I've adapted it to Lebanon's landscape and climate, to plant summer crops. I however believe that this method can work anywhere, with a few adaptations. The idea is to plant a lot of summer crop seeds in one (or a few) locations (depending on how many of such hügelkultur raised beds you build). So you concentrate all your seeds and all the water in one (or a few places). However this raised bed provides an extremely rich soil for these seeds, that will grow at a very fast pace, even if they are densely planted. The idea is to obtain a bountiful harvest even if your water resources are limited, even if the space you cultivate is limited (or shaded by large trees), even if your time is limited. Building one such raised bed is enough to eat many different products from your garden (squashes, melons, cucumbers, okras, tomatoes, eggplants, peppers, but also squash / zucchini flowers, and many sorts of green leaves). My idea would be to propose institutions, schools, etc. to build one such raised bed every year in order to retrieve a lost connection in between the land and us. Watching the development of this kind of raised beds is fascinating I believe, because those are fast-growing plants that change every day (in those ideal growth conditions). I invite you all to try building such a raised bed, adapting it of course to your local context: if you do not have access to water for example, build it much earlier (January / February), and bury it at a deeper level (so it's no longer a raised bed, visually speaking).
