I thought the issue with #Roseburn was a lack of other safe cycling routes, and no plan to build LTN 1/20 compliant infrastructure if the tram is reinstated?
True about 1st tramline - City of Edinburgh Councillors played politics with it. But Transport Scotland took over extension to Newhaven and it was on time/budget. CEC’s preferred option for North-south line would take over #Roseburn shared path - will cost billions and be fought tooth and nail.

The #Roseburn corridor is indeed a fantastic cycle route, but it's a former railway line that's needed for that purpose again. You'll still be able to cycle along it when the tram comes. More importantly, without the tram the city has little chance of meeting its climate targets, and that's serious.
Please do respond to the Tram extension consultation in support of a project with huge environmental, economic, mobility and social benefits, which are only possible if the Granton railway along the #Roseburn corridor is restored to its previous use.

There's going to be a lot of discussion about the #Roseburn v Orchard Brae routing options for the new Edinburgh north-south tram line, but let's look at the facts first before making claims in support of one or the other.

I had similar thoughts about route but using width on existing Coltbridge viaduct then avoiding Roseburn path. Deviation (in purple) cuts across Coltbridge Gdns into Modern One car park. Dunno how viable but cheaper than a new bridge. - www.google.com/maps/d/viewe...

The #Roseburn Path is indeed glorious on a day like this and the present amenity will be reduced when the railway is restored, but that’s not reason enough to abandon the only feasible tram route to the north and the environmental and social benefits that will bring.
Trams are essential for the future of the city socially, environmentally and economically. The only feasible route for the extension is the #Roseburn path, despite the obvious losses that entails. I just hope that the debate is based on hard facts and excludes impractical or fanciful solutions.
