Argh I came back to say I’ve just seen Jessie Gender point out that this part of the show reads as “she acts that way because of her genetics” and I totally missed that. Argh. I read it as “genetics made her react differently” but didn’t join the dots.

while I think the self harm concept was handled poorly (like having spock just having admit it on camera??) i actually like the concept itself, for a very young child spock. i dont believe it's the kind of self harm he'd be likely to do as an adult but as a kid? i can see it.

We finally got to see Kirk and Spock interacting more, we got some philosophizing, pretty high stakes, depth, and Kirk taking a seat in the Captain's chair. It also made me feel stuff. Overall, great episode!

rewatching ep6 now and good god pike is so 🔥🔥🔥 im a obsessed with his interactions with La'an, especially love seeing a little bit of a glimpse of his skill set outside of command. it's mentioned many times he was a test pilot but to see him work with his hands has me like 😩💦

i really did enjoy spock quoting alice in wonderland, i loved it in disco and i love slipping it in here especially given the whole setting

that said idk how i feel about the overall episode yet but it was nice to see spock trying to do his job rather than chase the ladies

I’m talking about the Holodeck episode and the voice of the “show’s”director, which you can mostly hear during the end credits.

Okay so according to SNW, the Holodeck started off deadly and dangerous, and the tech needed to be reworked to be safer before it could be integrated into starships... And we all know how that worked out.

They ironed out all the kinks and made it super safe. 🫡

lowkey i didnt catch that john de lancie was in that episode. but the whole time, i was like "this feels like q shit." and at the end, all i could think was "how many god-like non-corporeal species are there??" lol totally missed it while it hit me in the face
