Transcript of a gravestone inscription.
As many people celebrate the Scottish poet Robert Burns today, we remember his sister Agnes. The Journals show her gravestone inscription at St. Nicholas's, Dundalk, Co. Louth: tinyurl.com/burns1834

Really enjoyed @acspring.bsky.social's talk last night on 'Tracing Scots Ancestors Before 1855'. Free to view on catch-up until 23 July. #Genealogy #ScottishGenealogy
Screenshot from Ancestry of comment reading "Information extracted from the death register entry for Margaret GARDNER, aged 69 (Mother's Maiden Name COCHRAN)."
My new public service: Every time I come across one of those stupid 'Select Counties' fake death/burial records on Ancestry, I try to locate the entry in the Scotland's People index and leave a note on the Ancestry page. I've seen *multiple* people now confused by these entries. #ScottishGenealogy
Couldn't find someone in the 1871 Scottish Census, but a wildcard search found him - twice. For some reason the enumerator has duplicated an entire page of returns, as p.15 and p.39 of the ED (there may be more, but it's pay-per-page to view - Hutchesontown 644/10 15/). #ScottishGenealogy #Genealogy

Two entries from a handwritten baptismal register.
It's a Friday afternoon and I'm stuck on the baptismal dates in this Scottish register (1832). It says 26th [something], and I think it might be an abbreviation of 'current'. Can anyone confirm? #Genealogy #ScottishGenealogy

It's no substitute for the original images, but the extra info makes it much easier to identify the right record so you don't waste your credits 🥰 #Genealogy #ScottishGenealogy
I'm going round in circles on the website - is there any way to find out about records in Glasgow City Archives other than booking an appointment and searching the catalogues there? #ScottishGenealogy
Beware the three new Scottish 'Select Counties' collections (Baptisms, Marriages, and Burials) - they aren't what they say they are and they're full of rubbish. Almost makes me nostalgic for the days when it was just terrible transcriptions... #genealogy #ScottishGenealogy #GenHour #AncestryHour
Not sure what will be the most effective means of complaining and highlighting these nonsense entries, as Ancestry is just peddling complete garbage, and shouldn't be allowed to get away with it. #genealogy #GenHour #AncestryHour #ScottishGenealogy
Found a fake record on Ancestry (AI strikes again?). It's based on an 1855 Scottish death register entry, but the "deceased" is actually one of the listed living children, and there seems to be a 'death record' for everyone mentioned on the original 😡 #genealogy #ScottishGenealogy #GenHour
Using examples from my family in Scotland, Ireland, and the U.S., I talk about how I used both written records and DNA matches in this video to confirm and expand what I knew about one set of my Irish ancestors.

Agree. I think the "of" has been blurred over time, but Native of East Lothian makes sense.
