Two new #skink species - 𝘚𝘤𝘪𝘯𝘤𝘦𝘭𝘭𝘢 𝘫𝘪𝘯𝘤𝘩𝘶𝘢𝘯𝘦𝘯𝘴𝘪𝘴 and 𝘚. 𝘮𝘢𝘦𝘳𝘬𝘢𝘯𝘨𝘦𝘯𝘴𝘪𝘴 - have been described from southwestern Sichuan, China, bringing the country's Scincella count to 19.

Today, for many reasons, was a good day. Best of all was that I saw a blue-tailed skink in the wild and managed to photograph it before it ran off.

This one has distinctive orange-brown bands along its body and a bright blue tongue used for defense.
