" We were very happy to hear that they have released Bart from hospital and he's resting at home. Which means he's going in the right direction. :) "
#SkyShedPOD
#SkyShed POD #SkyShedPOD personnel update from last week's horrible car crash:
"The lead doctor just told Bart's wife that they expect to move him out of ICU in 2 days. Small steps. Makes our day. :)"
The AstropotaPOD
Anyone who has a #SkyShedPOD, you should know that Bart (CRM creator and maker) and Owen (Bart's biz partner - Admin - Production, etc.) were in a car wreck on the way home from the shop late on Wednesday night. They are in critical condition.
Update: I made a copy of the AstropotaPOD stats dashboard and hard-coded the rig ID so it's my primary nighttime rig (as opposed my secondary or my daytime rig). astropotamus.com/pod should now work for all!

I do have some SW sky, but it's 30 degrees elevation before I'm out of the treeline. My current #AstroRig is in a #SkyShedPOD (the @pod.astropotamus.com AstropotaPOD) and only gets to look North because of where it is, so I'm looking forward to the 14" being able to see South! πππ¦
My πCosmic Lensπ #Discord server is slowly starting to take shape! There's not a lot of furniture yet, but you're welcome to make yourself at home! All topics #Astrophotography #Astronomy #Cosmology #Space and #Science in general, as well as #3Dprinting, #SkyShedPOD and even #Wine and #Beer! π»ππ¦
New post! www.astropotamus.com/equipment/tp... tells you everything you need to know if you need to extend WiFi out to your #SkyShedPOD or other out-building for #Astrophotography or whatever it is you do. Come see how it works for what I needed it to do! π‘ππ¦
I know right? I used to leave mine out under a TG365 cover all year until I got the #SkyShedPOD. There's some irrelevant minor rust on some of the tripod screws and the CW bolts but it's a tank!
One glorious minute of my #SkyWatcher #EQ6R mount proving that it can still slew after being asleep for five months in the #SkyShedPOD AstropotamuPOD.Β Yay!!! π #Astrophotography will happen on the next clear night!
A telescope inside a backyard observatory.
Wide angle shot makes the CW bar look huge, but I got the #SkyShedPOD opened today to air out a bit! No bugs in plugs that I could find. Need to bring the power supplies back out and rewire some cables and I might actually be imaging this week! ππβ€οΈ

Come on, dude. The snow is gone. Time to open the #SkyShedPOD!

An AI generated image using the other image as a reference. It appears to show two very large telescopes inside a huge dome.
But I crossed my own line and submitted a reference image of the inside of my #SkyShedPOD to playground.com to see what it would come up with. Both are below. I don't know what those π are that it invented, but I think I would be jazzed to own them! Would you use this #AstroRig?
I need everyone's vote for what to name my #SkyShedPOD! Is it an A or a U?

#Spacecat #Cat #Caturday Mac demands to know why the #SkyShedPOD remains closed despite the snow being gone. Someday, Mac, I promise, we'll see the stars together again, buddy.
I don't think he understands "weather forecasts."
Very cool. The closest I can come to that is that an 80s rock star, who is in the Canadian Music Hall of Fame, is on my speed dial because he turned to astrophotography later in life and created the #SkyShedPOD that I have in my back yard.
Need more π #SkyShedPOD name votes, please!
Under normal circumstances, I would appreciate a few hours of green because I have a #SkyShedPOD to hold all my gear. But it's all sealed up for winta' right now and no way I'll be ready to do anything with it by Monday.
Maybe it will be a #Seestar night.
Wow! A kindred soul! π My EQ6R won't hold this π even if I use one arm to help it out. And I already have another C8 and a 100mm diameter APO on the EQ6R inside the #SkyShedPOD so not sure if I'm going to buy a new mount or just leave this for visual/EAA at this point. 2025's going to be $$$! π
This is almost the same as my #SkyShedPOD. π
The 16" is really only a marginal improvement over the 14" but the 14" is a massive improvement over my 8". And I want the mount and tripod because I'm running out of space in my #SkyShedPOD so I need to be able to put this on the lawn! π

Cosmic Entity -> Light -> Telescope -> Camera / Sensor -> Computer -> Siril -> ASTAP -> StarNet -> GraxPert -> GIMP -> BlueSky
That's the path that my #Astrophotography images take to get posted here. Here's where it all starts for me, my #SkyShedPOD.
Ah. Cool. I'm not much of a podcast person because my work commute is five minutes, I don't have a job that I can listen to stuff while I work, and I have a home life when I get home. Maybe in spring while I'm setting up the #SkyShedPOD, I'll check it out.
Do you have some web cams that you want to ditch the cloud services for and just have them be (among other things) RTSP streams? Check out thingino.com. Works great on Wyze Cam V3 and Wuuk cameras (and a few dozen others)! I use these to monitor my #SkyShedPOD and #Astrorig! π
I could throw open the #SkyShedPOD and have everything remotely ready to go, but I haven't imaged since November and I think my gear may be frozen to the mount at this point. π

#SpaceCat #cat Mac, checking to see if there's still snow on the #SkyShedPOD.
Yes, Mac, there is. No #Astrophotography tonight. Sorry, bud. Maybe in March.
A 3d printed plastic model of an astrophotography dome. It's sits ona flashlight which is lighting it from beneath.
I designed and #3DPrinted a 6" #SkyShedPOD to put in my SkyShed POD. It doesn't hold very much #Astrophotography gear. π
A galaxy seek face on amidst a sea of stars.
M81 is pretty much my favorite galaxy because it's always in view of my #SkyShedPOD. Here's some of my #Seestar data mixed with some of my 500mm/f7 data, poorly processed by me.
A giant mess of cables and adapters for two telescopes mounted side by side on top of a computer controlled mount. All is inside a dome with star embossed on the underside.
View with the #SkyShedPOD closed.
Since my gear is in a #SkyShedPOD I never take pictures of it while imaging. But I do have some Wyze cams with #Thingino custom firmware on them that monitor everything, including one on the mount to "see what the scope sees." You've just inspired me to start saving those images.
Nice shots!
Christmas Eve morning - after the storm
