Europe’s #SoilMonitoringLaw enters into force today – meaning that the EU's first ever soil law has a b-earth-day!

But dad jokes aside, the real test starts now.

Given the law’s high flexibility, serious impact will depend on ambitious implementation by Member States.

🥳 The European Parliament just adopted Europe’s first-ever soil law!

Council fails to ramp up ambition of first ever EU soil law Although it is positive that a compromise was found, it is disappointing that Member States chose not to increase ambition.

The good: Today Environment Ministers adopted the Council's position on the #SoilMonitoringLaw! 🎉

The bad: The agreement is not bold enough to bring Europe's soils back to health 👎

Das Endergebnis ist auf dem Bild zu sehen. 336 Abgeordnete haben zugestimmt, 242 waren dagegen und 33 enthielten sich der Stimme. Die EU-Bodenrichtlinie wurde also angenommen.

Ein Schritt hin zum ersten EU-Bodengesetz überhaupt: Heute hat das EP seine Position festgelegt zum #SoilMonitoringLaw Ein Erfolg für die Gesunderhaltung der Böden. Leider wurden Maßnahmen von Christdemokraten, Rechtspopulisten & Teilen der Liberalen extrem verwässert.
