July has been a very quiet month for birds. 1-lifer & only 7 NFY. This Stone Curlew at Skeffling yesterday took 3 attempts, a hard-won victory & no. 240 of the year - 1 away from my 2024 list now. Other dips: Quail x2, Caspian Tern, Ring-necked Duck, White-rumped Sandpiper. #ukbirding #stonecurlew

YES, but not a #BeachNestingBird! There is another #StoneCurlew species in Australia, the Bush Stone-curlew, #endangered in NSW. If they're nearby, you might hear their ghost-like contact call at night.
