Just in case there's never a "Birds on Signs" thread (and if there is I've posted early). The folks at Tophill Low put the sign up specially for the kingfisher to perch on.

Return of the King...
Wasn't looking promising to see the blue wonder yesterday but then two popped up just before we left! So great to see them flying in formation!

A wet walk at Paull Holme Strays
Been a busy time, but we've managed some birding over the last week.
A great walk at #TophillLow on Wednesday with 59 species, Red-Crested Pochard was NFY.
Then an hour or so at #PaullHolmeStrays yesterday, in the rain. Sadly, no sign of the male Hen Harrier I'd seen last week.

Ada investigating one of many Snails she found. This one I believe was a Kentish Snail
Ada looking at a Grey Squirrel on the Reception Hide feeder
A Common Snipe feeding amongst flatted Reeds
A male Common Pheasant standing on, and refusing to move from a picnic table
Ada and I spent the afternoon at #TophillLow. Our go-to place in the rain.
Not often you get that close to a Snipe, right outside the hide window. I've a great video too - taken on my phone.
Just Sedge Warbler was NFY, but in total we had 57 species of bird, and 4 mammals.

Nice walk around #TopHillLow this afternoon, half of it with Ada on my back.
Highlight should be the briefest of glimpses I had of the Black-throated Thrush.
But tbh, I preferred the red-head Smew, and the 2 Marsh Harriers that were very unhappy with a Kestrel perched in a tree.
