Today is the 20th anniversary of the transit of Venus of 2004. The planet Venus passed in front of the Sun as seen from the Earth.
This picture was taken from London by holding a digital camera to the eyepiece of a 100mm aperture short-focus refracting telescope.

The show started with Valérie Médard-Ramchurn from Mauritius who introduced us to her Kuchipudi dance originating from Andhra Pradesh, a drama dance that was introduced to Mauritius only in the 1980.Probably yesterday was a first for Rodrigues.Valérie's clothes were extremely beautiful and colourful.
The Kuchipudi performance of Valérie, unfortunately my pics came out blurred...
Two dance schools from Rodrigues performed too.In contrast to our traditional sega, the music chosen was from Menwar, a famous sega musician from Mauritius.

I promised an account of yd's show. For starters, it had nothing to do with the #TransitOfVenus observed by Pingré in 1761 in #Rodrigues. It was just chosen as title for a workshop bringing international artists together with artists from our island, yd's show was mainly singing & dancing.
