Northern Shoveler male -- A side view of a colorful duck floating in water. He has a brilliant dark green head and neck, yellow eye, white breast, with dark russet on the flanks and black wings and tail. This duck has an unusually large, shovel-like, black bill -- hence the name. He is facing left and has a string of bright green algae dripping down from his bill. The background is dark water which is mostly smooth and glassy with some ripples interrupting the duck's reflection.

Painted Bunting, small bird, right profile, seed in beak. Perched on a feeder, bright orange body, blue head and neck, yellow on back, wings different shades of green.

Blue-Jay, perched on seed tray. Back and wings are blue, under and neck are white, head white to gray with distinctive black stripes on head and neck.

Eastern Bluebird. Small bird, perched on upper curve of a shepherds hook style garden stake. Reddish breast patch, lower white, head and back are blue.

Tricolor Heron, right profile. Large wader, regular visitor in Florida. Slate blue back, sides, neck and head. White on leading edge of wings, and a distinctive white, Mottled reddish stripe from chest to lower portion of beak (chin?). Long, sharp beak, starts out bold yellow, narrows to black tip.
