#OTD in 1972, 45 women workers at a shoe factory in Fakenham, Norfolk, locked themselves in and barricaded the doors with machines, after they were made redundant following a US buyout of the company.

Here is what the emptying out of several #Avanti #WCML Scotland-bound trains was like this afternoon at Preston. They were all waiting to get into 3 carriages of the York train. NOT. With a view to going there to get to Edinburgh.
Fortunately for me, Glasgow-bound people were all put into taxis.

Local line problems at Dalry, according to MOH.
Overhead lines at Glasgow central.
Some other problem at Carnforth.
Trains backed up, cancelled and in wrong places all over the #WCML.
Train driver and guard have just returned from getting themselves a takeaway.
