6. Curses and blessings both exist! If a fairy likes you (or wants you to learn a lesson) they may leave you with a magical effect. Curses can be cured, if healers know the source of it. If that's unknown then it's essentially a chronic condition with social stigma

"For as long as Death kept you in its sights like all other it seeks to claim." Still not looking away from her formally-human husband. "We healed it when you agreed to be ours. Knew the girdle would protect from time siphoning you away from us but..." Covered the scar and the shame she felt towards it. "It grew." Gwen finished. "It will continue to grow." He stopped hiding it. "The reality is it will continue to grow until it encircles my neck completely and my head will fall just like my husband's did all those years ago at the Christmas banquet. It was the blow we agreed upon even if his joviality sought to circumvent." Lady B locked eyes with Gwen to speak plainly. "Fae Magic is what keeps my beloved alive. And it's Fae Magic that will take him from us." Before Gwen could express her sympathies Gawain directed his lady away from her. From everyone. His focus swept away the rest of the world. His scarred hand cupping her face. "Remember what I asked in my vows?" Continued on without her prompting. "How immediate was my devotion?" "I don't care how long it took. I care for its longevity. Is your devotion long-lasting?" She recited back like they were about to exchange rings and wine cups. He brought their foreheads together. "I'd argue forever." She huffed a laugh. "A distance I don't believe in." His response a breath. "For me could you try?"
