Today's #mtgtrivia question:

What cycle in Guildpact would be revisited mechanically in three other cycles over the years?

#WotCStaff

Answer to yesterday's #mtgtrivia question:

The Nephilim. I often get asked to errata them to legendary so they can officially be Commanders.

Wild Defiance will trigger when you cast the copy (if applicable), but not when you create the copy in exile. The copy in exile doesn’t remember anything about the spell as it existed on the stack. #WotCstaff

You're just going to cheat of someone else's homework and expect full credit? Well, good job, totally works. #WotCstaff

If a copy of a spell with paradigm is the first spell with that name you've had resolve that game, paradigm will set up all the future copies. It's the resolving that does that. #WotCstaff

No. It's a copy of the object that was the resolving spell. #WotCstaff

A blast from the past!

Found these Embalm overlays I made for the Amonkhet prerelease back in 2017 before I started at Wizards. 😬

Technically my first UX mechanical mtg frame design? 🤔 #WOTCStaff

Oh, I leave for #MCVegas in a week. Well that's terrifying. (I'm going early, so if you're also going, you probably have a day or two before you need to panic. But maybe not!) #WotCstaff

Today's #mtgtrivia question:

One of the most common errata requests I get is for a cycle of cards in Guildpact? What is that cycle and what is the request?

Answer to yesterday's #mtgtrivia question:

It means "A rumbling or gurgling noise made by the movement of fluid and gas in the intestines."

This position requires relocation to the Renton area, but I'm told there is some flexibility in the timing. #WotCstaff

Yeah, provided you haven’t previously had a spell with that name resolve. #WotCstaff

1 0 1 0

All spells with paradigm are exiled, but only the first one to resolve with any given name will create future copies. If you play 4-of, numbers 2, 3, and 4 will just resolve and be exiled. They won’t give you more copies. #WotCstaff

Speaking of cards that vanished into my memory. I feel like this card has mostly been crept out of commander, but this is such a fun effect to think about. Exiling tokens or creatures with low toughness and +1/+1 counters is such high dopamine.

What other fun tricks can this card do? #wotcstaff

Today's #mtgtrivia question:

Borborygmos is a legendary creature in Guildpact. But his name is also an English word. What does it mean?

Answer to yesterday's #mtgtrivia question:

The Dark. It was the original home to both Elves of Deep Shadow and Dark Heart of the Wood, both reprints in Ravnica.

The SOS Release Notes may be able to help: magic.wizards.com/en/news/feat.... If you're in an event, you should ask the judges there. If those don't have the answers you need, you can try asking here. No promises, but maybe I can assist. #WotCstaff

Today's #mtgtrivia question:

Ravnica had two (non-basic land) reprints that originally appeared in the same set. What set was it?

Answer to yesterday's #mtgtrivia question:

I messed up, so there is no answer. I had intended the answer to be Copy Enchantment, but forgot about the "except it's an enchantment rider". Sorry. I loved Copy Artifact and was surprised we never made Copy Enchantment, so I made it.

Put another counter on PP, causing last ability to trigger. Double the number of counters on PP, causing ability to trigger again. Those abilities resolve. You draw two cards. PP is 4/6. #WotCstaff

No. Whatever creature that player controlled will return to its previous controller. Whatever creature that player owned that went to a new controller will leave the game with them. All control-change effects that didn't involve that player won't be affected. #WotCstaff

Today's #mtgtrivia question:

There's a card is Ravnica that has the exact same name and text as a card in Alpha (well, the Oracle text) except one word on the card is changed twice to another word. What card am I talking about?
