I haven’t seen #TreeWithDeepRoots, but #PursuitofJade is a superb historical show - it’s got a mixture of politics, action, & relationship drama
It’s not a fantasy/wuxia like #WhoRulestheWorld, but it’s got a similar dynamism & world building element to it

It’s a limited drama which leans into action more than nuance, but it was visually beautiful & Yang Yang’s dancing background definitely helped him move balletically during fighting scenes

#WhoRulestheWorld was my first cdrama, so it has a special place in my heart!
In terms of world building xianxias #AncientLovePoetry & #TheLegendofShenLi are definitely superior to #LoveintheClouds (which is a smaller fantasy world by comparison)
I think if you have a metaphysical side xianxias
In books (English), I prefer SF and Fantasy but in dramas, I am skeptical. I liked #WhoRulesTheWorld, but it is more #Wuxia right? I have this plan of starting #TheLostTomb series, which is modern fantasy I think, but I am hesitant.
I’m not sure if I follow all the references - are you perhaps referring to Zhang Haowei who plays the clever but evil Yu Wuyuan in #WhoRulestheWorld? (He was involved in various scandals which put him on a blacklist)
but when I switched on #WhoRulestheWorld - the fantasy wuxia-inspired drama starring Yang Yang & Zhao Lusi - it was the first time I saw choreographed fight sequences embedded in a wider story like that, with different atmospheres, an element of romance, political strategy etc. So for me it was new
#ZhaoLusi appreciation post. Her portrayal of #BaiFengXi from #WhoRulestheWorld is one of the great female heroes of Chinese Cinema. The power, posture, grace, and carefree confidence all come through thanks to Lusi.
Since I'm mostly caught up with #LoveintheClouds, I've started #WhoRulestheWorld and I'm liking this one so far. It's very entertaining and the actors and performances are solid. Xiao Lu Si and Xuan Lu have great strong female characters and play them perfectly.

I loved it, but it’s a wuxia drama so you don’t get to see Lusi display her emotional sensitivity, as in #HiddenLove & #LovesAmbition
Her serious historical dramas are worth a watch too - #LoveLiketheGalaxy & #TheLongBallad are strong performances

Two of the best #Cdramas on Netflix star #ZhaoLusi my favourite Asian actress ( #KieraKnightly my fave Western): one is #wuxia fantasy #WhoRulestheWorld, t'other rom com #HiddenLove with added hilarious sibling relationship.
