The thick trunk base of an Oak tree stands alone in the foreground surrounded by a carpet of yellow Celandine flowers. A Bluebell flower stem sits dead centre at the base of the tree and a couple of white Wood Anenome flowers are visble but not distinct to the left of the tree, The background consists of a patch of bare ground covered in leaf litter at the back of which are numerous out of focus thinner tree trunks and to the right of our subject tree the blurred outline of another thick trunk Oak with a Y shaped vine growing up it.

Desert diary 2024: I was thrilled to see desert lilies (Hesperocallis undulata) for the first time. Lots of them! White, low to the ground, with long, undulating leaves (thus the species name), the petals glowing in the late afternoon light.
