Had the absolute thrill of being allowed to go up our local church tower, the oldest part of the church, built around 1450. At some point in the 1800s the tower height was increased and you can see the remains of the old roof in the 1st pic

A beck (small river) across which are some stepping stones. On the other side is a steep hill covered in brown bracken and lined by a drystone wall.
A Roman Road, flanked on either side by grass. The road dates from the 3rd century BC and originally ran from Malton to Whitby.
Carr Wood. There are lots of brown leaves on the ground and pine trees on either side of a faint path.
Two buildings in the hamlet of Beck Hole. One is a shop. The other is a pub, which has an oil painting hanging on its exterior wall. The painting was done by Algernon Newton, a member of the Royal Society (and father of actor Robert Newton of Long John Silver fame). Sadly, the pub doesn't open on a Saturday 😭

A shop with the sign "Aidensfield Stores". The village of Goathland was renamed Aidensfield for the TV series 'Heartbeat'. A number of businesses have kept these names (in order to attract tourists).
St Mary's Church, built in 1896 (though looks older). Inside are a number of pieces of furniture made by local wood carver Robert "mouseman" Thompson.
Mallyan Spout, a rather impressive waterfall.
Views over the moors, with cloudy skies, bracken on the ground, and rows of trees in the distance.
An 8 1/2 mile walk today. Starting at Goathland (best known as the setting of the ITV drama series 'Heartbeat') before taking in the delights of Mallyan Spout, a Roman road, Carr Wood and the quajnt hamlet of Beck Hole.
