After feedback at #AdvX23 I wanted to find a way to use a controller joystick to select hotspots.
My solution: an invisible rectangle contains all nearby hotspots and allows you to move a virtual cursor around freely within it, selecting hotspots in any direction. ๐ #gamedev

I've finished writing-up my notes from my first AdventureX. I could only make it for a day but I'm already looking forward to next year and more great talks and kind folks and London priced everythings. #AdvX23
Weโre home after an incredible #AdvX23! For the first time we got to see people play our game in person, including one especially inspiring person - Charles Cecil, creator of Broken Sword! Thank you AdventureX, Revolution, and all the amazing people we met.

Today it's the anniversary of my dissertation defense (yes, it was Guy Fawkes' Day), which dealt with adventure games. It's a privilege to still be talking about adventure games 14 years later, to a captive audience who cares at #AdvX23
Day 2 of #AdvX23. It's been wonderful to hang out with my adventure game peeps, and I'm overwhelmed by the positive reception to my talk. Who knew that there was such an interest in old Japanese detective games. ๐
