The #1926census media machine is really ramping up now. Due to unprecedented local demand, I've added an additional talk in May in Swords. cbgenealogy.ie/april-may-ta... #AncestryHour #GenHour
Wishing you luck! How wonderful that a cousin reached out to you and has a similar outlook on the relationship in question. #AncestryHour #Genealogy #WikiTree
#AncestryHour The Artemis mission also touched on #FamilyHistory with the proposed naming of a feature on the moon after astronaut Reid Wiseman's late wife Carroll.

#AncestryHour Next week I'll get back to transcribing and analyzing wills and other records.
#AncestryHour Looking at the Artemis mission trackers also reminds me of how you can get a fresh perspective on your #genealogy research by making a timeline, a summary of research, and a research plan.

#AncestryHour I like to share this video by Crista Cowan as an example of a #genealogy instrumention problem.
Your person might be in the records but not in the index.

Mark your calendars for the release of the 1926 Census of Ireland on 18 April!

#AncestryHour The thing that I am impressed with the most about the Artemis mission is how much they can accomplish because of teamwork. You don't have to be isolated in your #genealogy research. Reach out to other researchers, not just cousins in your own family.
#AncestryHour Learning things is never wasted. You can't know in advance how your training in one discipline will benefit you when you move on to the next. I routinely use insights from my background in Classical Studies and linguistics when I'm doing #genealogy as well.
#AncestryHour Look how the astronauts did their lunar flyby, taking pictures *and* recording observations on audio. Are you recording your observations about your research as well as gathering digital images? Are you leaving a record of how you felt about making your discoveries?
#AncestryHour Also, my love of #genealogy case studies and research planning can probably be credited to NASA as well. Looking at someone's study and seeing what records they found, how they used the information in the records, is a type of practice before you go into the records yourself.
#AncestryHour NASA gave me an appreciation for redundancy at a very young age, so I like to have access to multiple means of access for records sets. I also learned to distinguish between whether I'm seeing a problem directly, or an instrumentation problem.
Greetings #AncestryHour friends! Not much #genealogy research this week because I've been swept back into an older passion, following missions in space. 🌝

A Cromellian Army Officer, Richard Freeman, who was posted to Greenhow Hill. There is no baptism, they were non-conformist, but the release of the Borthwick records includes Richard's will which is looking hopeful to tie the family together. 2/2 #AncestryHour #FamilyHistory
Had a cousin contact me this week, after she had found some profiles I'd added to #WikiTree for our shared 5xG Grandparents. What's super exciting is that she had had the same idea as me, that Katherine Freeman www.wikitree.com/wiki/Freeman..., my 8xG Grandmother, could be.... 1/2 #AncestryHour

Planning on taking part in the British India Challenge on #Wikitree starting April 13th. Anyone else doing it?

I've realised I've been missing #FamilyHistory chat on social media for a while. Somewhere to share those little thoughts and gems with no expectation. So going to re-engage with #AncestryHour and #GenHour. Not sure I'll always hit the exact hour whilst I get back into a rhythm....
Started work on the letter A for the A-Z challenge. But at this rate of research, I'll never ever get to Z. I'm thinking of giving it a miss after all. So much else to do...
Sorry to miss #AncestryHour #genealogy
Shared again, but with a working link (the one in the original post being truncated in the copy-and-paste process). #FamilyHistory #Genealogy #London #AncestryHour #GenHour
#AncestryHour Second will found today is the kind I like most: an aunt leaving things to her nieces and to the children of her late nephew, who is one of my people of interest.
#AncestryHour Looking about in the area to see what I can find and you know how Ancestry shoves a family tree in your face at the top of the search results?
That Samuel's wife's name is ... Mary.
#AncestryHour #DNA #Sale MyHeritage just put its DNA kits on sale for the ridiculously low low price of US $19.90. Check it out! www.myheritage.com/dna?utm_camp...
Or just "Mrs X" with no given name. Grrrr. #AncestryHour
#AncestryHour Yes, I'm completely spoiled by the post-1858 wills where the probate calendar obligingly tells me the occupation of the executor(s) so you can sometimes see at a glance whether you have the right family or not.
It's time to trace the properties, as much as I can from afar.
#AncestryHour
My number one frustration about reading wills: "My wife"
Her name, is it too much to ask? Even if it's 'Mary' and there are a hundred 'Mary' candidates, that's better than nothing.
Hi #AncestryHour. I have nothing to post about #genealogy today because I’ve been busy prepping for Passover (Pesach) which starts tomorrow night.
#AncestryHour I'm thinking about doing a self-answered question on Ancestry Full Text Search for Genealogy Stack Exchange. If you have questions and don't want to post yourself, let me know, and I'll try to include your type of search in my answer.
