White female flower of bottle gourd plant. Both male and female flowers grow on the same plant.
The female flowers have a bit smaller petals, but already before pollination they have tiny gourd-like bodies like in this pic. If the flower gets pollinated from a male flower blooming at the same time, the female flower grows into bottle gourd, if it doesn't get pollinated, it dies and falls off.
The first female flower! 😍 But there is no male blooming this time... Each flower is blooming just for a night (opening on evening and gone by midday the next day). That's quite a short window for pollitation.
