Annual New Years Day spin to Newgrange & the River Boyne, via Slane & Drogheda. Cold & foggy but still lovely & sunny too. Something mysterious about cycling around the bend of the Boyne north bank by Knowth & Dowth. If they ever build that full greenway here it’ll be something else #BoyneGreenway

'Ecological and environmental surveys underway. Preliminary design of the horizontal and vertical alignment as well as structures of the Boyne Greenway route progressing.'

When you take into account that Public Consultation 2 was itself delayed for 2.5 years (originally planned for ‘Q3 2021’ according to the original plans, but not published until Dec 2023), that means the #BoyneGreenway has so far been delayed for 3.5 years since the first consultation in early 2021.
Good to get some update on the #BoyneGreenway but progress is frustrating slow. According to the last official timeline documentation – from the 2nd consultation in Dec 2023 – this third public consultation was supposed to take place in 2024. Now expected Q4 2025, a year behind schedule.

The #BoyneGreenway - one of the most disappointing aspects of the Slane PR plan is that it didn't link to the future greenway.
The original plan didn't have any cycle lanes to it. After @navancycling.ie's submission, it was changed – to a cycle lane on one side only, which is still very poor.

Then there’s the added confusion with our other great greenway in the making – the #BoyneGreenway – located at Oldbridge, & in planning to continue to Navan.
We have heard of lots of visitors coming to explore our greenways confuse these two.
