Small but significant! With a length of only 7–8 mm, the harlequin fly Chironomus riparius is a crucial bioindicator for freshwater ecosystems. Burak Bulut from the Senckenberg Biodiversity and Climate Research Centre investigates how temperature and time shape the evolution of Chironomus riparius and presented his work in our last IQCB seminar.
