Christian missionary schools established in 1822 were the first to formally educate #Creeks in American culture; a few earlier attempts at founding schools had been unsuccessful
A medium-sized chestnut colored dog with a black muzzle stands somewhat precariously on a large broken-off branch. She is looking over a creeks at the hillside opposite.

Photo by Kort Duce An American bullfrog rests on a rock in St. Vrain Creek in Longmont, Colorado. In this horizontal color photograph, a close-up captures the frog with its head emerging from the water in the upper left corner of the frame. Its reflection mirrors back on the surface, while the clear water reveals the large rock beneath it. The foreground is dominated by the dark, nearly black rock, which drops off into the creek bed below.

Most #Creeks spoke dialects of the Muskogean language.
A creek along the slope of a hill is filled with rushing water moving fast enough to make whitewater as it goes over a ledge of rock. The light is a soft gold.
Looking the other way, we no longer see the slope but we can see off to the right water flowing into the main creek from the gully that ended that hill. A more gradual slope is rising to the right. The light is a bit harsher and whiter.
The vagaries of morning light. Two photos take from the same spot, first facing north, the second facing south about 45 seconds later.

Light and water ripples over the various colored rocks in creek bottom make designs and patterns in the creek.
The same effect in a different place in a creek.
I am eagerly awaiting the end (still weeks away) of taking these photos because the trees having leafed out make the creeks flow green.

For #Stunday. This beautiful scene was photographed on a trail in #olympicnationalpark. I saw as much of the park as I could in six days. I hiked over 70 miles over those days that went by too fast. #photography #landscape #EastCoastKin #rivers #creeks ##NationalParks #Nikon #Z8 #Washington
