A landscape image, central in the frame a steam train is coming around a bend with the track coming towards us and leaving the image in the bottom left corner. Steam is coming from the funnel and heading off up into the trees and then tracking behind the train, the track is lined either side with ivy clad trees. The train is part if Peak Rail, that runs from Rowsley to Matlock with many enthusiastic volunteers.

A landscape oriented image taken on a winter day with snow on the ground and fog in the air making for a very minimal scene. I had such a wonderful walk with two of my favourite weather conditions. I’m on a track in the meadows, the bottom two thirds is snow with the markers of one side of the track coming in from the bottom left and running up to the middle of the frame, they’re just little bits of wood and some tussocks of grass. In the top third trees are visible in the fog and flying across them on the right is a flock of small birds adding a little something to the feel of the image.

A portrait oriented image. It was taken in a wooded area near Cromford that is known as Black Rocks. There’s a huge rock formation, here we see just a tiny bit of it sitting in the bottom right of the image. I’ve titled the image Moia because this bit rock puts me in mind of the heads on Easter Island. As we go into the image there are some large silver birch with their wonderfully delicate branches. It’s autumn so the leaves, now a little sparse, are yellow and gold. It was a misty morning and the mist was burning off leaving behind a gentle haze and the emergence of blue sky in the top left. Silver birch are some of my favourite trees and I’m delighted to have just found one that grows to just the right size for a space I have in my garden. It arrived yesterday so as soon as the ground warms up, it’s currently frozen, I’ll be out there planting it, whoop whoop 🙌
