Six-legged, insect-like arthropod with a bulbous abdomen covered with a quilt-like pattern of yellows, reds, and browns. Sparsely covered with short translucent hairs. Kind of cute, like a miniaturized capybara wearing a loud sweater.
Dicyrtomina minuta grazing on a wet stump. Globular springtails are capable of launching themselves at insanely rapid speeds when disturbed, and when I'd get too close they'd often just *vanish* as if teleporting (e.g., like the X-Men's Nightcrawler). #GlobularSpringtail #springtails #collembola
