The #Europeanmantis is a large #hemimetabolicinsect in the family of the #Mantidae. Their common name #prayingmantis is derived from the distinctive posture of the first pair of legs that can be observed in animals in repose. I hope she laid eggs last year so I can have natural pest control.

One mantis is the usual grassy green coloration, the middle one is more a dry grass brown with green on the four hind legs, and the rightmost mantis is more of a yellow-brown with striking reddish eyes and similarly green hind legs.
