Allosaurus fragilis carrying Ornitholestes hermanni. The Allosaurus has a bright orange crest with a black strip as well as a dark strip across the eyes. A combination of scales and protofeathers dot its hide. Ornitholestes is covered in shaggy brown feathers, not having grown in its adult coat. Blood is covering the Ornitholestes body as more blood gets on Allosaurus's maw.

An Allosaurus happily carrying it's new prize - a young, unfortunate Ornitholestes.

They used an SEM to further investigate the ornamentation of growth bands on the clam shrimp to determine which family it belongs to. Jacob has also spent hours searching through photographs to figure out which species this new clam shrimp most closely resembles. 3/6 #jurassic #morrisonformation

Why are so many Allosaurus found at the CLDQ? - Was Allosaurus really that abundant? Or is there some sort of sampling bias? Are we seeing the remains of Allosaurus ‘packs’?
