Dornier 26 in Luftwaffe markings taking off from a stretch of calm water. It’s a sleek aircraft with a high-mounted gull wing. Tandem engines are mounted atop each wing, the rear ones tilted upwards to clear spray being thrown up from the hull. Large stabilising floats hang below each wing.
Another Dornier flying boat worth mentioning is the rather graceful Do 26. Designed for Lufthansa as a transatlantic mail carrier, the aircraft were requisitioned by the Luftwaffe. Of 6 built, 3 were lost during the Norwegian campaign in 1940 and another crashed later that year.

Yamamoto Isoroku's reputation has been somewhat sanitized over the years, and at times he's wrongly cast as a peace figure within the #IJN.
It's not unfair to say that he hesitantly sent the Navy to war, having largely been dragged there by the #IJA. He deserved a better end. #NavalHistory #PHG
