In the background is Rochester Cathedral and other historic buildings framed or shot so that the lamppost features within a gap in the skyline and doesn’t obscure the principle spire in particular. In fact is framed, sort of, by it. It’s late afternoon and the sun low and out of shot. The sky is blue and near cloudless on a fine Autumn day. Trees and an odd artificial vine (on the lamppost itself) also feature but as enhancement not focus.
