A weathered boat sits on a sand & gravel beach next to a dilapidated dock. A wooden boardwalk sweeps through the frame into a lush forest, and continues through the entire village. Above the forest is a tundra, which probably turns into a spectacular bog given the amount of rain the area receives. In Patagonia, rain is more common than dirt. Puerto Edén is one of the most remote communities (boat access only) on earth. It's a community of about 200 people and is one trying to re-establish the culture and language of the Kaweskar people. The (sad) story of the impact of colonization of the southern Patagonia tribes is a familiar one, so it is encouraging to see evidence of a commitment to re-establish at least one.

It's a day of clam seas and dry, grey-ish skies. The blue ice provides a stunning pop of colour. There's a sea bird (gull) in the middle of the action. Patagonia weather is changeable, three seasons per day. Brüggen Glacier / Pío XI Glacier, much too wide for even my 14 mm, this is a 4-frame stitch. The face is about 5 km / 3.1 miles across. The glacier is considered "stable", not growing or retreating.

A life-size paper mache sculpture of Albert Einstein made by a famous artist in the 1950s. Albert’s eyes move back and forth with the ticking of the clock. Also, I’m in the picture too.
In Berkeley Springs, WV and just for funzies visited the antique clock museum located in what was an antique mall the last time I drove through town.
Hands-down the most interesting collection of antique clocks I’ve ever seen in my life.

Looking back to Ana Pink Bay off the stern of the Skorpios lll, the golden orb floats above the chiselled Patagonia mountains, reflecting on the choppy water, and casting a warm, yellow glow on parts of the ship. It's been a chilly exercise, on deck for over an hour anticipating the moment, occasionally ducking into the bridge to warm up. The calm will end as we navigate through the Pulluche Channel and start crossing the notoriously rough Penas Gulf. Few show up for breakfast, fewer for lunch, I think only 20 showed for dinner ...the cruise director and many staff were down for the count. We had an intimate dining experience all day, but it was a little like house arrest as you couldn't even get a cocktail. While not the sailing wasn't easy-peasy, it was no Drake Channel!
