Norman Widsom (Pitkin) joined the 10th Hussars as a band boy in 1930. Posted to India, he became a flyweight boxing champion.

During the Second World War, he joined the #RoyalSignals and served in a command bunker in wartime London - reputedly meeting Winston Churchill.
