I hoofed all my houseplants into the garden for the summer last year. There were poppies on the wall behind the cacti; they brought in some unexpected guests. First time I've seen a poppy in flower this early, & I'd never considered they would grow indoors. #flowers #SelfSeeded #poppy #cacti

A nice self-seeded and hopefully self-seeding corner, all edible. Tree spinach 'Magenta Spreen' (Chenopodium giganteum) and pot marigold (Calendula officinalis), both sown last year. Nasturtiums were added this season.

Brr, the wind was nippy today. I was all swaddled up like a toddler. The only thing missing was a string across my back, tying my gloves together.

What a stunning opium poppy (Papaver somniferum)! It's plonked itself down, self-seeded from somewhere, perhaps a blackbird having frightful laudanum withdrawal? Needless to say, the seeds will be more carefully scattered this time.

Some self-seeded beauties in the front garden.

I've no idea how these white foxgloves made their way here.

Nor this lovely mallow.

I know where the Callicarpa came from. Lots of flowers = lots of lovely little purple berries.
