A half-enclosed payphone outside, on a sidewalk, the metal shelf of it and blinds overwritten with exuberant blue graffiti, and black graffiti scrawled over the face of the phone itself, none of it terribly legible. The handset dangles loose from its jointed metal cord, the earpiece of it somehow broken off and gone. The phone books’s still attached to its bracket. Little yellow leaves litter the concrete beneath it.
