Jack Snipe have been hard to find this year, but this one at St Fittick's Park today shone out in the thermal imager as it flattened down against the edge of the reeds.

A thermal image of Fieldfares roosting in some conifers

Saw 30 or so Fieldfares fly through the garden just before sunset and land in some willows about 100m away. Thinking they might be looking for a roost I got the thermal out watched them gradually move into the adjacent conifers where they settled down around 15 mins after sunset. #thermalbirding
