Half seed tray packed with nicotiana sylvestris seedlings

Going to prick out and pot on some more seedlings tonight.
When I was sowing my nicotiana sylvestris I remember saying to myself I’ve sown that seed too thickly. The seed tray suggests my initial thoughts were right. Going to take a while lol #plantsky #flowersky #gardensky #UKGardening

A tall stemmed peony less bushy than the others. This one has multiple flower buds at the top of its stems. The leaves tend to have a bronze or more olive green tinge to them before maturing. There's a privet behind.

It's nearly peony time folks. 🤗
They don't last long but I love mine as they're opposite the front door so are the 1st thing I see in the morning before going to work this time of year.

And the small apple trees are blossoming. Pleased that the 1st one seems to have survived the loss of a major limb last autumn.

Front lawn - along with primroses I have a profusion of dog violets this year.
Back garden - what looks like a mound of dog violets approx 1 ft tall. Not sue why it's grown upwards rather than outwards. Leaves are much bigger. Is it a different var or just not mown over?

A Vibrant Periwinkle Blossom
This close-up photograph captures the delicate, striking beauty of what appears to be a Lesser Periwinkle (Vinca minor).
Key Visual Details
• The Flowers: The image features two main, vibrant violet-purple blossoms. They each have five distinct, broad, somewhat rounded petals that radiate from a central white throat, creating a subtle, star-like pattern in the middle.
• Foliage: The flowers are framed by lush, glossy, oval-shaped green leaves. The depth of field is shallow, meaning the focus is sharp on the upper flower, while the leaves in the immediate foreground and background soften into a gentle blur.
• Lighting & Color: Natural, soft daylight illuminates the scene, enhancing the deep, saturated tones of the purple petals and the fresh, verdant green of the surrounding leaves.
This capture evokes the quiet, simple elegance often found in woodland or garden groundcovers during the spring.

The image shows a cluster of white bluebells (Hyacinthoides non-scripta) in full bloom. The delicate, bell-shaped flowers hang in small groups from slender green stems, their petals curling slightly outward at the tips.
Key Visual Details:
• Flowers: The primary focus is on several stalks of bright white blossoms. At the bottom of the frame, there is a small splash of color from a few vibrant purple bluebells, creating a nice contrast.
• Foliage: Long, blade-like green leaves rise vertically through the composition, appearing smooth and healthy.
• Background: The ground is covered in a natural carpet of brown, dried oak leaves and organic forest floor debris, which makes the white and green of the living plants pop.
• Composition: The shot is a medium close-up, capturing the flowers at a slightly downward angle, emphasizing their drooping, "nodding" habit.
The overall feel of the photo is serene and indicative of a classic British woodland scene in mid-spring.

The picture features a close-up of a vibrant Common Lilac (Syringa vulgaris) branch in the early stages of blooming.
Visual Highlights
• The Blooms: The central focus is a dense, conical cluster of flower buds in a deep magenta or wine-purple hue. While most of the flowers are still tightly closed, rounded buds, a few four-petaled blossoms have begun to unfurl, revealing a softer lavender-pink interior.
• The Foliage: The flowers are framed by bright, heart-shaped green leaves. The leaves appear smooth and matte, typical of lilac bushes in mid-spring.
• Composition: The branch extends diagonally from the upper left toward the lower right. The background consists of a soft, out-of-focus blur of green grass and other shrubbery, which makes the rich color of the buds pop.
Details & Texture
The texture of the buds is particularly striking—they look like tiny, waxy beads clustered together. Lilacs like this are famous for their heavy, sweet fragrance, which is usually strongest just as these buds begin to open fully.
It looks like a perfect snapshot of spring reaching its peak!

This image captures a cluster of White Bluebells (Hyacinthoides non-scripta alba) in a natural woodland setting.
Key Details
• Flowers: Several delicate, bell-shaped white blossoms hang from slender, bright green stems. The petals are slightly recurved at the tips, giving them a graceful, nodding appearance.
• Foliage: Long, narrow, sword-like green leaves emerge from the base, framing the flowers.
• Background: The forest floor is visible in the soft-focus background, covered in a carpet of dry, brown fallen leaves and hints of other emerging green plants, which makes the bright white of the flowers pop.
These plants are a relatively rare color variation of the common bluebell and are often found scattered within larger drifts of the traditional violet-blue flowers during the spring months.

The photograph features a cluster of small, vibrant light-blue flowers, commonly known as Forget-me-nots (Myosotis).
Key Visual Elements:
• Flowers: The petals are a soft sky blue with tiny yellow centers (eyes), growing in delicate, slightly curved clusters at the tips of the stems.
• Foliage: The plant has elongated, oval-shaped green leaves that appear slightly fuzzy or textured.
• Setting: The plant is growing directly from dark, moist-looking soil. Scattered around the base are bits of organic debris, a few small stones, and a single small piece of red brick or terracotta.
• Composition: The shot is a medium close-up, showing the plant from a slightly elevated side angle. The background is a mix of darker earth and other green garden plants, which are slightly out of focus, making the blue flowers stand out.
The overall feel is that of a natural, perhaps slightly wild, garden corner in the springtime.
