Wow ☺️👌🏼

Man may mess around with time but nature runs to an eternal schedule. Spring in my garden wakes at the same time each day. It cares not for the many clocks that I had to alter last night. A Maple tree greets the day.

A short break I’ve decided to take a short break, probably just for a week or two, from posting on this blog, but I will continue to read, and comment on, other people’s.  I’ll still be posting…

A Japanese Maple with drooping pale green leaves, edged with yellow and orange, end in pointed arrow-like shapes that will soon unfold into the familiar pattern. Beneath the leaves are small cherry-like purple seeds on stalks. The branch on the left that supports the leaves is red and the trunk to the right is dark brown seen in shade. A wood fence is blurred out in the background as are other leaves and branches set against a sky.

Beautifully taken Graham my friend 🤩💛👌🏼

Another effort for the #BlueSkyArtShow theme #Background, also in my Surrey garden but this time using my iPhone by the ornamental pond.

A bright yellow Marsh Marigold with garden pond reflections of overhanging plants as the background. The flower’s petals are spread wide in sun and still hold some raindrops after a sudden shower. The many, darker custard-yellow slim stamens seem to reach to the light.

experimenting with my old/new proper camera (I’ve neglected it for years). I may need to go on a course.

A bit of a soaking to begin with. Otherwise, not bad.

Bleeding heart (Lamprocapnos spectabilis) coming through.

That's a goldcrest in the tree. I promise. You'll have to take my word for it.

Gorgeous cherry blossom, dripping delightfully

A bed containing various tomato plants with fruits of different colours at the allotment last summer.

I’ve just sown tomatoes for the allotment, hopefully the crop will be as good as last year.
I’ve sown mostly Gourmansun, Crimson Crush & Rose Crush (for blight resistance), but also Emerald Brocade, Alice’s Dream, Sgt Pepper’s Bronze, Lithium Sunset, Bloody Butcher & Golden Queen. #UKGardening 🌱

Here are the previous and current cumulative views. As you can see, they both go far over the limit. When Art Fight starts back up again the numbers for that especially will shoot back up. Not sure what to do

Had a great day creating natural log piles to improve our biodiversity in the gardens, creating habitats for all kinds of wildlife.

Logs are simply stacked, and soil piled around them to hold them in place and create soil pockets for planting.

This image is a soft, detailed macro photograph of a cluster of delicate white blossoms growing on a dark, woody branch.
Key Features
• The Flowers: The blossoms are pure white with five thin, rounded petals. They are tightly grouped together, creating a snowball effect.
• The Stamens: Numerous long, slender white filaments extend from the center of each flower, topped with bright yellow or orange-gold pollen-covered tips (anthers).
• The Branch: The flowers are attached to a textured, brownish-grey twig that extends horizontally across the lower right side of the frame. Small green sepals are visible where the flowers meet the stem.
• Composition & Lighting: The focus is sharp on the central cluster of flowers, while the background is a smooth, out-of-focus blur of muted greys and soft browns. The lighting is bright and even, likely from an overcast sky, which emphasizes the fragile texture of the petals.
The overall feel of the image is serene and signifies the arrival of spring, typically characteristic of fruit trees like Blackthorn or certain varieties of Plum or Cherry blossoms.

The image features a close-up, centered shot of a striking split-corona daffodil (likely a variety like Narcissus 'Orangery' or 'Cassata') in full bloom.
Key Visual Elements:
• The Flower: The daffodil has a unique bi-color appearance. It features six crisp white outer petals (perianth) that form a star-like backdrop.
• The Corona (Center): Unlike a traditional trumpet-shaped daffodil, this variety has a split, ruffled center in a vibrant shade of golden yellow. This central part is flattened and spread out against the white petals, giving it a layered, almost "double" look.
• The Stamens: At the very center of the yellow corona, the pale yellow stamens are visible, adding a fine point of detail.
• The Background: The flower is framed by soft-focus, vertical green leaves and a blurred natural background, which creates a shallow depth of field that makes the bloom pop.
The lighting is soft and even, highlighting the delicate textures of the petals and the fresh, spring-like contrast between the white, yellow, and deep green.
