Tarabilla (Saxicola rubicola) estaba pasada en la valle metálico al.ladi de la carretera esta mañana. Suelo verlos revoloteando bajo sobre las cepas fuera de la ventana de la oficina (¡distrayendome de mi trabajo!).

Believe I just saw a Merlin flying up the valley near Cruce de Árchez! 😎

Saw red fox on the Árchez road last night. I know they are 10 a penny in many English cities, but here they are scarce and shy; always feels like a privilege to spot one disappearing into the bushes.

First a shower of rain, then a sighting of a pair of Short-toed Eagle's. Pleasures in late July.

Trying to capture swifts in the evening, that fly screaming over the houses, just for fun - very difficult even with a good camera and lots of experience; with a mobile, mpossible. You'll just have to trust me. They were there; it was glorious.

Missed getting a shot of the Short-toed eagle this afternoon, but pleased with this chance encounter with an early Grasshopper instar.

Crag Martin. Obviously it's part of it all; the natural world is not fairyland - but I feel for the live bee being fed to a chick.
I guess that, like a bee-eater she had knocked the bee's sting off on a branch or edge before feeding it to the chicks.

Yesterday, when I had my good bridge camera, nothing. Today,.when I don't, a pair of crested larks hoping about the vineyard. Not complaining, still a privilege to see them just... a bit frustrating

I don't see woodlouses so often here: they are either so deep in the undergrowth of abandoned fieles they are invisible or not present as all undergrowth has been striped away. I find them a delightful family; as a kid I was fascinated by their ability to curl up in a ball.

'Hoppers near Canillas de Albaida, Málaga 'bout 10 ft frm each other. 1st Oedipoda caerulescens, Blue-winged ghopper. 2nd Aiolopus thalassinus, Slender Green-winged ghopper. The blues are much more common here... or maybe the slenders are really good at hiding!

Thrilled to see a pair of golden oriols fly across the road and down the valley, while driving to Árchez. No mistaking that bright yellow body and black wings! Not super rare here but shy and surprisingly hard to spot. Made me grin all the way home.

When I say things look verdant here after the rains, this is what I mean. I even saw a rabbit that raced out of the grasses by me. Never see rabbits here! What a delight!

Serin , seen in February - an earlier arrival. These bright songsters are the sound of spring and summer, the Spanish Canary. I am still mainly hearing goldfinches and chaffinches, but I guess the series are on their way.

Birds in town. Collared dove and sparrow.

In the countryside I am now seeing flocks of gold finches and a few serin. Lots of tweeters in the bushes defying me ro get a good look at them, too.

It was very peaceful - birdsong, and lots of bees all over the huge amounts of rosemary in flower and the occasional almond tree. A few carpenter bees too. Quite a few people - 1 pair dogwalker, 2 hikers and 3 mountain bikers.

First glimpse of Canillas on yesterday's walk. I saw black restart, flocks of goldfinches, white wagtails and, at the water tank at the top of the village, a grey wagtail. But didn't take my good camera so no bird shots.
