Coronation Park Sports and Recreation Centre | City of Edmonton Coronation Park Sports and Recreation Centre, located in central-north Edmonton, is set to become a vibrant community hub for recreation, sport and leisure.

So the City of Edmonton left the wood exposed in the new Coronation Rec Centre but painted over the exposed wood in Peter Hemingway Pool. Make it make sense. #yegheritage

At the Iranian pavilion, instead of traditional folk dance, we get something much more contemporary and soulful. Well. I say contemporary. The Iranians in the audience obviously know and love this repertoire. So I suspect these are modern classics. #yeg #yegheritage

Imagine if we had been able to preserve at least the facades of those old gems. Love Edmonton, my hometown, but the place has a nasty habit of renewal through demolition.
Forget Edwardian era piles, you can't find many mid-century modern places these days.

Spent a delightful morning as a judge at the Edmonton Heritage Fair - like a science fair for history buffs. Kids from Grades 4-9 competed to tell stories from history. So much passion, curiosity and knowledge on display! So many volunteers and teacher sponsors, making it happen. #yeg #yegheritage

Good to see more of old Edmonton being protected. In the 80s my place off Stony Plain & 126th had the same design. Sadly, it was later torn down. At least its replacement fits the nature of the hood. More than can be said for the box that replaced my old bungalow on Candy Cane Lane.
