A monochromatic image featuring the mirrored facade of 5001 Yonge St. in Toronto (former city of North York). There are distorted reflections of the Royal Pinnacle condo building (completed 2020) which sits a block north. On the right side of the frame, is the much newer Pearl Place (completed 2024) which sits to its south. Despite being of similar size overall, the two condo buildings have very difference unit density and square footage. The shot forms a microcosm of what condo development shifted between over the past few decades. Royal Pinnacle has 320 units on 32 floors. They range between 575 sq ft and 2104 sq ft. Pearl Place has 478 units on 34 floors. They range between 482 sq ft and 1049 sq ft. We allowed developers to construct building after building overloaded with tiny units suited to a couple at most, but more often bought by foreign investors as a way to safely store their wealth (sometimes rented out, but often allowed to sit vacant). And then we wonder why families are moving further and further from urban centers... A lovely (beech?) tree at the edge of the Gala Policies, a local woodland here in Galashiels. π³ It is part of the Southern Upland Way, which is a route spanning from the west coast of Scotland right across to the east coast.

This photo was taken from Black Hill, Morro Bay, and is looking across the Morro Bay Estuary towards Elfin Forest which is located at the furthest point of Morro Bay's inlet (just left of center vertically and just above center horizontally). This was taken in October 2025, before we had received winter rain, so the estuary is brown.
This photo was taken from one of the lookouts on the Elfin Forest trail in Los Osos, California. In the foreground is low vegetation that sits at the edge of a bluff overlooking the estuary which is green with various waterways running through it. Across the flat estuary is Black Hill (1/3 in from the right edge of the frame). The top of Black Hill is obscured by morning clouds. This photo was taken in April 2026 after we had received winter rain, so the estuary is green.
