Incredibly excited AB’s honored for “Inventing the Renaissance” to make the list! And amid such amazing other entries in what really is the most wide-ranging of all Hugo categories!
Hugo Finalists
Absolutely thrilled to announce that Cinder House is a Hugo finalist! And in the best company I can imagine!
Thanks so much to everyone who nominated it, and congrats to all the other finalists & categories.
An illustration of Sean Connery's character from Zardoz done in the style of a Judy Blume novel cover. The title is "Are You There God? It's Us, An Unofficial Hugo Book Club Blog" In the upper left corner is "A Hugo Voter Pack" done in the style of a book publisher imprint. There is a catch phrase up top "Irreverent, incoherent opinions about SFF."
Now we get to work on our Hugo Voter packet submission for @thehugoawards.bsky.social ...

I didn’t Get a Hugo Nomination And that’s Okay I knew it would be a long shot to get nominated.. But you know what? I’m glad I submitted “The Fangirl Diaries” anyway. It was still worth campaigning for. We need more diverse voices in fandom works. And I’m very thankful for everyone with a World Con membership for their nominations and support!
I Still WRote Something AMazing That’s important to Fandom I’ve been invited to speak at comic cons and anime cons about fandom history. Talking about Y2K culture and giving “older” anime fans a space brings me joy and sparkle. I’ve got my friends to collaborate with me on panels to also share their perspective of fandom in the 90s and 00s. Understanding fandom history is so important today. I enjoy talking about! And remember, it’s about the love, not the likes!
No Listicle or Award Mention can take away my legacy on fandom It would have been awesome to have been nominated and acknowledged for my contribution to fandom history by one of the highest honors in the nerd and geek community. But even if I’m not nominated or part of any “best of” listicle, one thing is clear. I wrote one of the first books about millennials and anime fandom. I have a supportive nerdy community. I met so many fans of my book through my convention travels. I don’t intend to stop anytime soon.
Author Life Is Hard But I’m Living that Dream 2002: “I get to be a published writer?” Present Day, Present Time LOL: “Shoutout to my couch.”
I spent most of the morning reflecting on the Hugo nominations. It would have been a thrill to be nominated and to attend @laworldcon.bsky.social to have my contribution to fandom be honored, but we keep moving forward.
Thank to all my readers, friends, and community for your support!
CAt Valente
Congratulations @catvalente.bsky.social on having your 10th appearance on a Hugo ballot in the fiction categories (novel, novella, short story, series, novelette).
The first person to reach 10 times as a Hugo finalist in the prose categories was Fritz Leiber, who did so in 1971.

CRAFT WARS is a Hugo Finalist! I'm very grateful to be nominated, and extremely pleased by the company!
The original posts got a bit messed up, so....here we go again:
Delighted to note that my Nebula finalist poem, "Care for Lightning," is also now a Hugo finalist!

One of the highlights for me this morning was seeing @onspecmag.bsky.social on the shortlist for the Best Semiprozine Hugo Award.
The whole team there has done great work for more than three decades, but had previously never been on a Hugo ballot.
Also, they're just good, kind, hardworking people.
Okay. Let's take a moment to talk about How To Be A Hugo Nominee And Come Out Of It Happy About the Honor. I realize this is relevant to like, twelve people. I don't care, those twelve people deserve my time. (You may have seen a version of this thread before. I do it every year.)
It seems unbelievable that no work of fiction by @annaleen.bsky.social has previously been on the shortlist for a Hugo.
They've long deserved this, and Automatic Noodle is such a good book.
Uhhh…wow. They told me about this three weeks ago and I still don’t know what to say. It’s completely wild that people know I exist.
To be nominated for a Hugo is absolutely surreal and an incredible honor. Thanks to everyone who has read, shared, and encouraged me over the years!
Very happy to reveal that Citizen Sleeper 2: Starward Vector has been nominated for a 🚀Hugo! 🚀
I grew up reading Hugo winners and nominees, and many previously nominated and awarded books are among my biggest inspirations! www.thehugoawards.org/hugo-history...
Fascinated by 'The Story and the Engine' (Inua Ellams) getting on the Hugo shortlist; I wasn't expecting that at all but it's great to see a more unusual and innovative episode getting recognised. #DoctorWho
So excited to see so many people I know and like and respect on the Hugo ballot! Congrats to all!
over here I am just revising away on my romance novel, am about a third of the way through so far, probably doing that for the rest of the month basically
After working in the industry for so long it's hard to personally congratulate all my friends and colleagues who have Hugo nominations, as they are so numerous (and so very talented), so a HUGE congratulations to *all* the 2026 nominees! I am delighted to be mentioned in the same breath as you all!
Really exciting news today. My short story “Six People to Revise You” is a Hugo finalist!
Congrats to all the finalists! See you in Anaheim!!!

Congratulations to the Hugo finalists!!!
But also, and in all sincerity, congratulations to everyone who has a book out today!!!! It's TUESDAY and that is NEW BOOK DAY and I don't want everyone's book news to get lost in all the Hugo excitement!!!

Didn't get the Hugo nomination for related work. That's okay, we just need to keep pushing for diverse voices in fandom and fandom spaces. It would have been amazing to have attended the Hugo's in Anaheim.
What any list can't take away is that I wrote something meaningful about fandom history.
Time for my annual reminder that no non-American editor has _ever_ won a Best Professional Editor Hugo award. Which is insane.
Yes, not even one single British editor, despite many high-profile repeat finalists.
Do I have imposter syndrome? Yes, even on a day I am a Hugo Finalist (as part of @nerdsofafeather.bsky.social ) because it feels "wrong" for me to trumpet it.
*rolls a golden apple into Bluesky* am I allowed to say “Hugo nominee” if it’s a lodestar
2026 Hugo, Lodestar, and Astounding Award Finalists
Congratulations to the finalists!

Honestly this is my dream, but as somebody with chronic impostor syndrome I still can't quite believe it. AUTOMATIC NOODLE is a finalist for the Hugo, the Locus, and the Nebula awards. Thank you so much to everyone who voted. I am flustered but very happy!!
