I’ve been caught out by these as well. They are so “moth like” especially in flight!

We have historical records for them on the site .. last year the lure failed to turn up one as well. I will try again when it’s a tad warmer. Might’ve just been the changeable weather on the day?

Nice! I tried my Emperor lure out on Sunday on my local patch of heathland .. didn’t get one. Still have only ever seen the Caterpillar and not the Moth on the wing 🤞

Ca. 7 miles inland from their breeding colony on #HaylingIsland #MedGull have been increasing in numbers locally for a couple of weeks now. They follow the plough #birdwatching
