Australia's 48 billionaires wealthier than bottom 40pc combined, Oxfam finds Oxfam Australia is calling on the federal government to tax the super rich to help tackle growing inequality, as billionaires grow their wealth by more than half a million a day on average.

It’s not just obscene, but I’d go as far as to say extreme inequity is our (and the developed world’s) most significant problem; the issue that must be addressed first if we are to be healthier, wealthier, more secure, and more sustainable.

Sickness, Disability, and Death in NHS England Staff

Sickness, Disability, and Death in NHS England Staff All three rising significantly from the point that covid infections started.

Sickness, Disability, and Death in NHS England Staff

The three graphs that *every person* needs to see.

The question that every single person needs to ask their government:
What are you doing to protect me from Covid infection?

Despite the statistics, governments stupidly treat COVID as being no worse than flu. Thanks to COVID I am currently suffering from long COVID again after several years of gradual recovery from long COVID in 2021. 😡😡😡

“I even had a doctor ask me, ‘What do you need me to tell you to convince you there is nothing wrong with you?’”

When an MD specialist in public health is gaslit by her own doctor, what hope is there for anyone else with #longCOVID to get support?

Also this, 100% in attendance is going to lead to a lot of long Covid in children.

That's why triathletes and marathoners got Long Covid. They didn't rest as a sport. Saw this years ago.

This 💯%. Not resting enough, or for long enough, during and after #COVID infection is likely why many academics like myself have developed #LongCOVID. Resting means from brain work as well as physical work! 😔

So many Athletes have had their whole careers derailed by long covid. Busting the narrative proving it can happen to anyone. COVID doesn’t care what our plans are sadly.

Oonagh Cousins: Great Britain rower forced to retire with long Covid, but at peace with decision Great Britain rower Oonagh Cousins has retired from the sport because of the lasting effects of long Covid, but she's at peace after the illness turned her life

I am thankful that Oonagh Cousins is sharing her story to try to help others recognize & learn from her Long COVID experience.
Moral: Prevent COVID infection
If COVID infected, vigorous exercise IS NOT part of effective rehab. Ever.
Neurovascular damage can last for years

The evidence is beginning to mount against the mistaken (& fundamentally racist) narrative that #Africa has been relatively unscathed by the pandemic & #LongCOVID -

I single handedly blame the “not resting” over every other factor.
Being female is part of that.
We’ve been conditioned to “keep calm and carry on” despite adversity.
We don’t even notice we are still going when we think we have stopped.

Late evening, downtown, a massive lit billboard sits on a high rise building it reads:
"Don't forget, you can:
Start at 30.
Fail at 33.
Start over at 34.
Struggle.
Improve.
Fail again.
Make progress.
Start again at 44.
And still be a success."

Added, in smaller font below:

"Unless you have Long COVID.
In which case all you can do is wait.
And hope they find a cure."

Day 1101—Harder to pull off when any activity—be it mental or physical—causes severe post-exertional malaise.

Whereas burning energy makes healthy people stronger, it literally makes us weaker—a little more disabled—every time.

Keep getting COVID, you will end up with #LongCOVID. There is no cure.

Here's what people don't understand:

Long COVID isn't mild symptoms, lasting longer. It's COVID-induced dysregulation that prevents the mitochondria from doing their job. It's affecting millions, like me. Forcing former athletes to inactivity. The very definition of purgatory. Not dead, not living.

Capitalization affects how people read hashtags or how people hear them on screen readers. Use #camelCase or #PascalCase in hashtags instead of lowercase. You could have #DoctorWhoRewatch ("Doctor Who Rewatch") or #doctorwhorewatch ("doctor whore watch.")

Broken record territory rapidly approaching, but once again: Homelessness is not a societal inevitability. It's a policy failure.

This is a solvable issue with a known solution, even under capitalism, because that solution is less expensive than the current responses.

We just don't want to do it.
