Any books articles podcast eps etc you know that tells Luddite history in a new, positive light, optionally relating it to current tech-labour situation?

I'm particularly interested in stuff by academic historians as other stuff I'm able to find with more ease.

When I purchased my current residence, I had dreams of having get togethers, picnics, dinner parties, and simple social hangings about. Of course, this was exactly at the beginning of Covid and all those plans were dashed. Still, very nice to think of what might have been.

We are starting the season of "lasts." Reading Pride & Prejudice. Teach the first half of it tomorrow (World of #JaneAusten Freshman Seminar). This will be the last time I teach that novel at #Emory. Have loved teaching it. Look forward to seeing what the students do w it. #18thc #19thc

One of Fitzjames' childhood homes. Not too shabby! The Manor House in Abbots Langley was unfortunately demolished in 1953. #Hertfordshire #19thC

Society member and retired chef Vasos assembled a lovely recipe booklet with tried and tested recipes from Mrs Beeton's Book of Household Management, along with his hints and tips on how to cook the dishes perfectly. A copy was distributed to all attendees.

My talk covered the typical diet of a working class family depending upon income and cooking facilities, the recipe books of the era, dining out, street food and the introduction of the new convenience foods, finishing with a look at the nutritional load of a typical Victorian diet.

In 1871, Captain George Wingate introduced "The Manual for Rifle Practice" as the definitive marksmanship training guide for the newly formed National Rifle Association.

I have opinions.
