I will say yes on surprise, twist or late reveal antagonist. No on there being any fake outs.
Aside from that all I’ll comment is that trust is a precarious thing in the Woods and all must be careful where they place it.

The Strangers who reside there demand human offerings in change for safety and the cost of refusing is horrific.
