Part of the altar rail & gates inscribed -

“John Ruddle, Minister of Launceston, Prebendary of Exon and Vicar of this Parish 1684.”

(Also, includes the churchwarden’s names)

I saw the Old Chapel of 1795 in #Altarnun, #Cornwall, noting 1836 rebuild & sculpted #JohnWesley bust

#Pevsner guidebook said it was carved by the Altarnun born, Burnard. ( @yalebooks.bsky.social )

It would seem Burnard carved a few other faces in Altarnun. 😉
